young drivers insurance
whoer's, I need your help and knowledge on the minefield that is young drivers insurance. I've been quoted £1229 for my sons new car by admiral which includes a black box.
Has anyone got any experience on how much the premium goes down if they drive like an angel for the first 12 months ?.
much obliged

Add your self as a named driver (or parents if still about) good for saving a couple of hundred quid.

My mum is a named driver on my insurance and it saves 150 and I am old and have 12 years NCB .

Hi mate, I got £1100 for my first insurance over a year ago with my Dad on it too with insurethebox. (8000 miles p/a special policy). I'm with Admiral now with Dad on the policy too for my second year at £700, but it depends on so many different factors. Hope this helps.

Find a relation who lives out of town. Piss take is normally only in London

Bish

I've had both my two sons go through the nightmare of first insurance policy.

I spent a lot of time with brokers etc trying to find a deal under £1,200 and gave up. The offer you have on the table is right at the low end of the range so I would take it if I were you.

Premium does come down after a year of safe driving but you should shop around a year from now and not rely on your insurer to give you the full discount automatically.
They work on an 'apathy model' - a competitive quote to get you in and then stealth increases every year to milk you for every penny if you don't switch.

I think it's up to 30%

That quote seems reasonable, doubt you'll find cheaper
